Day Two Hundred Twenty

Oh! The weather outside is frightful.  Going down to 10 degrees tonight, I hope the chickens huddle up close to one another.  Me?  I'm gonna sleep with a big furry German Shepherd (and no, not a hairy guy who wears lederhosen and tends sheep).

I am unusually sleepy and not the least bit inspired.  I really am going to go crawl into bed with my dog, it makes us both very happy.  My sister stayed over a few months ago and I gave her my bed and took the couch.  Each night my dog waits for me to come to bed and then I invite her up for a snuggle and when asked, she gets down and sleeps on her dog bed.  Well, I forgot to mention this routine to my sister and the dog got tired of waiting to be invited up and took it upon herself to launch into the middle of the bed with my sister in it.  I heard about that for a long time.  Good night all.

These five items are outta here:
1.  A Slinky, the real metal kind
2.  The Odyssey by Homer on 11 CDs
3.  A wooden Corona cigar box
4.  A tape measure (another thing that I seem to have accumulated an extraordinary number of)
5.  The Giver by Lois Lowry

  1. I would think a Gypsy wagon would require a wooden cigar box.....I'm full of desire and memories for this item.

On another note, I'm going to do a non-consumption month. I'm still too much a grazer and shopper. No looking at catalogs and newspaper inserts and promotional emails either this month. Looking forward to it!

  2. What a good idea. January is a good month to be a non-consumer following the consumption orgy that December usually is. The catalog thing is hard because every day I seem to get a new seed catalog and there is nothing sexier than sizing up the new strains of heirloom vegetables that they've made seeds available for. I tell ya, a seed catalog, a bubble bath and a glass of red wine can really send me to the moon. However, I'm not buying seeds because I still have plenty so I can look but not buy! So what are your rules? What are you limiting consumption of?

  3. Hi Kim, don't know if you will see this...I get your blog via RSS in Google reader where I don't see the comments. It just occurred to me you might have responded to my comment.

Anyway, mainly going to only buy necessities like food, gas, etc. I do spend a lot of time looking at catalogs. While it's fun to see what's out there, it stimulates grasping. So this is really a practice of contentment. Today was my first test, as I love the Target ad. pretty easy test to pass, thank goodness, even tho that little voice said "what's the problem with looking at one little flyer?".

Any particular seed catalogs you recommend? I'll start looking in Feb.

I'll leave this page up in my browser so I'll see it if you respond...

    Happy New Year!
