Day One Hundred Ten

I feel like I've gotten rid of all the books in the house that I'm willing to let go of.  A shame really, they were the low hanging fruit, the never ending supply of items to let go of that didn't take too much effort to gather up.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 books left!  Way too many.   I have art books. I have natural building books. I have horticulture books. I have permaculture books.  I have favorite books. I have books that I've been meaning to read but haven't gotten to.  I can't have a rolling library, I'm going to have to make further cuts or store books, I thought this would be easier.  In fact right across the board I have gotten rid of the things that I no longer use or need or like and I'm rapidly running out of those items and am still in a house full of stuff!  I will press on, determined to be left with just enough for my planned very small house.  I have to leave in place things that will make the marketing of my house better so I can't get rid of everything I want to just yet.  I am suddenly very aware of the limitations of material abundance. And I worked so hard to get everything.  Odd.  I'm completely ready to trade it all for experiential abundance.  I want to blow like a tumbleweed on the wind, catching on a fence here or there and moving on.  I realize that as a kid I moved every few years for most of my childhood.  I went to ten schools in twelve years.  It seemed normal at the time but what I realize about it is that it gave me a fondness for change.  Conversely, I've been here for almost 28 years.  I've been in this house for 17 years.  I was happy to raise my children and have them connected to a neighborhood and a set of friends but it is time for me to hit the road in a big way.  Maybe a one year sabbatical would ease my wanderlust, not sure.  For now I'm operating under the belief that I need to go go go.

These five things aren't going with me:

1.  A large cushion that I had a custom cover made for
2.  Another one - these used to be on a couch that is long gone
3.  One more
4.  Making a clean sweep of the living room - a decorative pillow off the couch also goes
5.  And its partner

  1. Can't wait to read your gypsy blog - as you get your go go rolling! Trying to remember to take my breaks away from the computer too, ever once in a while. Thanks Kimbo!
