Day One Hundred Three

In case you're wondering how this all works, I want to explain something.  I didn't plan on doing this, it happened rather suddenly.  It popped into my head, ideas comes to me all the time.  I decided it was a pretty good idea, turned on the computer and googled "blog" and off I went.  I set it up, walked around the house and gathered up my first five items and listed them.  I wasn't sure what would happen next, if I would tell anyone or if I'd never make another entry.  So here I am one hundred plus days later and it is exactly like the first day.  I need to get up, walk around the house and find five items.  My son was explaining to me the level of procrastination he fell prey to during college this morning.  Not so unusual; I wonder, are there really people out there who actually don't procrastinate?  I doubt it.  Isn't it what we see all around us now?  Don't fix the levee until after the flood.  Don't bother with drilling a relief well in advance, wait until there is a problem.  Don't worry about peak oil, that and global warming are Democrat inventions.  (Procrastinating on that one is gonna be painful I'm afraid.)  I think we're all pretty capable when we hit the wall, but we're a nation of procrastinators.  We like to be kept constantly comfortable or at least amused.  We deal with what we must, when we must.  Wouldn't it be nice to be more proactive?  As I sit here 76 minutes before my midnight deadline I sure think it would be nice.  I'd love it if I'd organized dozens and dozens of things to get rid of and could just pick five and list them now.  Instead, I need to get up off my ass and walk through the house now and find five things even though I'm really tired and ready to go to bed.  I'll be more proactive tomorrow, I'll find the items before 8pm.  Unless I wait until 10.

Here are today's lucky winners:

1.  Furry Logic by Jane Seabrook - I think I'll send this to my great nephew (grand nephew?) nephew's son
2.  Farewell, My Subaru by Doug Fine -  Really enjoyed that one
3.  Coming Back to Life  by Joanna Macy
4.  A shirt - nondescript but in good shape
5.  Teal blue long sleeve shirt

  2. Nor I. I started the day with some weed pulling I've been putting off. I'm going to do it in little pieces like the clearing. I'll pull 25 at a time when I go to the chicken coop for any reason since they're in the same area. Pretty easy and just before seed drop.

  3. The only blog I ever read was Locavore Nation on the Splendid Table, and I did it just like this one, I catch up a couple of weeks at a time. Returning to the subject of laundry, when you do laundry in Yellowstone they have pay showers in the same building, so you put in your laundry, take a shower, and listen to languages from all over the world. It's like music with the dryers playing bass.

On the subject of what clothes do you need, consider including some fast dry rain wear. You list almost all cotton, and although it works great here in the land of 330 days of sun a year, getting dry quickly when it rains 5 days and 6 nights out of 7 (Yellowstone again) will save your life. In the vernacular of backpackers "Cotton Kills". We had the right stuff so we had a great, if wet, trip.

Thanks for the inspiration, I dropped another load of "stuff every Monday" yesterday. Got into the Christmas and Halloween decorations because I needed the shelf for something else. I kept what I had actually put up in the last five years and donated the rest.
